Don't feel like you need to go TOO crazy with items for your new pup. There's plenty of gimmicky items for sale out there but some that may be worth the splurge. I'll divide everything into two lists with the absolute essentials (in my eyes) at the top and some things you may not have considered toward the bottom.
For reference we send puppy home with: a small bag of starter food, mini blanket with mom & littermates scent, a soft-squeaky toy, a bag of soft treats, a collar & leash, and protection against fleas & ticks.
A 24" crate will be the perfect size for puppyhood and through adulthood.
The collar & leash are essential but for dachshunds I feel like a harness is too. They are so fragile and take awhile to leash train, a harness can be helpful and much safer.
The Brand pictured is Woof + Ween, they have adorable Dachshund products and other merch.
For potty training a stubborn dachshund identifying a location to use the bathroom is really important. This doesn't hinder future outdoor potty training but accidents will happen indoors and providing a potty pad will set an intentional space. I don't reccomend washable for potty training, you don't want to encourage pottying on soft, fabric surfaces.
The best price I've found are a 150ct from Sam's Club for $21.99
We start puppies on Purina Pro Plan Small Breed Puppy at the very beginning for tiny kibble size and then switch to Pro Plan Puppy Shredded Chicken & Rice Blend. They are almost identical forumlations with a couple of ingredients in a different order to give the small breed formula 5% more protein.
We purchase through Chewy and they do take manufacturer coupons if you mail it to their coupon address Attn: Coupons 7700 West Sunrise Blvd Plantation, FL 33322.
Use the coupon in your puppy's bag we send home.

You'll want to have on hand an enzyme-based cleaning spray for when puppy has accidents. These cleaners are formulated to get rid of residual smells that can have your puppy wanting to keep pottying in the same location. I also use these sprays after disinfecting their area as a refresh.
All of our dogs and puppies are longhaired so keeping their coat clean and healthy is important. Some will easily gets matts more than others depending on their individual coat type.
You'll want to have:
If you leave your home with the puppy it's really important that they have an ID tag on their collar. Most people don't have a microchip reader and if your dog if found with a tag they can be returned to you much more quickly
Very helpful so they don't rip up their potty pad.
If you want your pup coming onto the furniture then these are an essential item, start training early so they don't jump off.
A towel, blanket, or something easily washable is best in the crate until they have potty control--a doggie bed outside of the crate is great or in the crate later on.
Dachshunds also LOVE to burrow, those fluffy doughnut-style beds are a favorite for our dogs.
These are great to make the puppy a safe-space to play outside or if you don't have a fully fenced area.
A great boredom-buster, you can use loose, mini treats or kibble in the snuffle mat and dog-safe peanut butter, coconut oil, or pumpkin puree on the lick mat.
Dachshunds are prone to dental disease--get ahead of it early by teaching them to have their teeth brushed. You can also implement a water-additive or anti-plaque forumation to their every day.
Cleaning the ears should be apart of your preventitive care routine.
Really affordable option for health and development of bone, muscle, and connective tissue.
Great for an extra boost in gut health during times of stress (going to the vet, long travel, or bringing home a new family member).
Talk to your vet if your pup is having loose stool regularly.
A game-changer item for at-home bathing. We use ours everytime we bathe our dogs or puppies.
For the one's who want to bring their new baby everywhere. This is the one we own but there are plenty of other options.
